#NoveColli4Children: The Dream Team is ready

  • Champions riding for the pediatric oncology
  • Pozzato, Rodriguez, Paolini & Co. aim to rid the 130km Nove Colli within 4 hours
  • A challenge against time to donate €20,000

The Dream Team #NoveColli4Children is back, ready to face a challenge within a challenge to raise funds to support the Romagna Oncology Institute (IOR) and its work at the Pediatric Oncology Department in Rimini.

A super group consisting of nine athletes, including former champions and protagonists from the cycling world.

Ex-professionals Filippo Pozzato, Massimiliano Lelli, Joaquím "Purito" Rodriguez, Luca Paolini and Edita Pulcinskaite, join the cross-country runner Cristian "Zorro" Zorzi and "The Lord of the Rings" Jury Chechi. Completing the team are Italian National Cycling Team Director, Davide Cassani and President of the European Cycling Union, Rocco Cattaneo – both former professional cyclists.

#NoveColli4Children is an initiative that the Granfondo organisation, together with IOR and Sportful, has been helping for two years already, obtaining important funds to support projects dedicated to less fortunate youngsters. Those projects include pet therapy and scholarships for adolescents with leukaemia.

Also in 2019, the challenge for the Dream Team will be to complete the 130km route (4 climbs and 1871m of elevation gain) with at least 4 of the 9 cyclists within the total time of travel of 4 hours. If they succeed, the ASD Fausto Coppi of Cesenatico, organiser of the Nove Colli will donate €10,000 to the IOR. That figure will double to 20,000 thanks to Valcismon Spa, a company that owns, among other things, the Sportful brand.

All 12,000 cyclists starting the 49th edition of the Nove Colli will be in the race against the clock too. It's a unique opportunity for them to ride alongside the former professionals and act as their helpers so they can raise money for a good cause.
