A spectacular start

An exciting start as usual, full of fireworks and Mameli's hymn, inaugurated the Nove Colli 2019. An emotional boost for all 12,000 cyclists to face the dean of the granfondos.
Even the thunderstorm showers did not dampen the ride for the cyclists today.

A Green edition
It was the most Green edition ever, which has seen the strong commitment by the organization to combat the lack of civic education of some cyclists. Biodegradable material, electric cars used for assistance, virtual race packs and, above all, ecological guards to monitor the route to catch those who throw waste out of the designated eco-zones. In the coming days the videos will also be displayed, and any disqualified people will be notified.

Mission accomplished for the Novecolli4children
Great success for the Novecolli4children initiative which saw the Dream Team composed by Filippo Pozzato, Luca Paolini, Joaquim Rodriguez, Davide Cassani, Rocco Cattaneo, Marta Bastianelli, Yuri Chechi, Cristian Zorzi, Max Lelli and Edita Pucinskaite, achieve the goal to ride the 130 km route and four hills within 4 hours.
That success is doubled from 10 to 20 thousand euro made available by Nove Colli and Sportful, assisted by the IOR (Romagnolo Cancer Institute), in favour of the pediatric oncology department at the hospital in Rimini.

Satisfaction for president Alessandro Spada
"A beautiful edition despite the somewhat dubious weather. This year was the most exciting start ever, but the most important thing was the consistent performance of the event. Thanks to the institutions for the effort recently made to redo a part of the road surfaces. There is still a lot to do but this is the right path. Starting next week, we will start working on the 50th edition: it will be something unforgettable ".

A sprint for the 130
The short course of the 2019 edition was decided with a narrow sprint concluded on the line in favour of Andrea Pontalto, 32 years old from Costa Lunga (Verona).

"The race lit up at km 40: between the first and second ascent, a break was formed, on which I managed to enter later with two other riders. On the Ciola we were in 6 and afterward, in 5, and then we played it out in the sprint. I am very happy, three years ago, I came second and I wanted to make up for it."

In the women's race Jessica Leonardi, Tuenno's 28 years old, wins: “I am very happy with this result, I didn't expect anything like that. Last year I arrived third, but victory is always very difficult to take home. I thank my family and the team that have always believed in me. "

A solo for the conquest of the 205km route
A solo cyclist crowned the long route. Federico Colone, who works in a bicycle shop, won the 49th Nove Colli, which reached the finish line with a gap of 30 seconds on the first 8 chasers led in the sprint by Tommaso Elettrico, then disqualified for bike change, in front of Marco Morrone and Fabio Cini.

"It was my second Nove Colli. I was aiming to win and I prepared very well," says Colone, 24 years old from Sora (Frosinone) "At km 60, I saw a large escape and I entered. We stayed in 6, but at the crossroads between the long and the short route, my 5 companions left me practically alone for the rest of the race. At less than 20 km remaining, I started having cramps, but I held on and brought home the result ."

45-year-old Simona Parente, from Pontedera (Pisa), triumphs in the women's field: "It went very well, I managed it well and managed to stay in front from the climbs together with a group of men. By now, I know the route well, having already won last year and four years ago. It's a very important race that I really care about."
