The 54th Edition of the Nove Colli was a Celebration

"My first Nove Colli was a wonderful experience, and I’m happy to have taken part in this event, which is much more than a cycling race," said Alejandro Valverde

A day of celebration, togetherness, sport, and bright sunshine marked the 54th edition of the Nove Colli, which once again confirmed its status as the queen of Granfondo races thanks to its unique atmosphere. Alberto Nardin triumphed in the long course, arriving solo after breaking away 80 kilometers from the finish. In the women’s category, a major victory for Roberta Bussone, who crossed the finish line first in her debut on the Cesenatico course. In the medium course, the men’s race ended in a sprint, with Nicolò Tamussi winning ahead of Matteo Fontanelli and Rossano Mauti. In the women’s category, Giulia Medri took the win, visibly emotional at the finish line.

Words from the Winners and Alejandro Valverde

"I managed to break away with still 80 kilometers to go and didn’t realize the gap I had opened on the chasers. It was an exhausting effort but also an immense satisfaction" commented Alberto Nardin, winner of the long course.

"It was my first time in a Granfondo, and at the beginning of the race I got boxed in. Then, in the second part, I was practically alone and I’m thrilled and honored by this victory," said Roberta Bussone, winner of the long course.

"It went well—I managed to lead the sprint and hold my position, which was key. I feel great even after the effort. Now I’ll call my mom to celebrate," said Nicolò Tamussi, winner of the medium course.

"I dedicate this victory to my dad, whom I thought of when I was in Pieve di Rivoschio—and thinking about it still moves me. I've made great progress since last year, and I’m overjoyed," said Giulia Medri, winner of the medium course.

"My first Nove Colli was a wonderful experience, and I’m happy to have taken part in this event, which is much more than a cycling race. There’s an amazing atmosphere in the days leading up to the race and along the course, which is also very scenic," said Alejandro Valverde.

#NoveColli4children

A great result for the solidarity initiative #NoveColli4children: Aru and Cattaneo completed the course in under 4 hours, with Chiara Ciuffini arriving shortly after, ahead of Christian Zorzi. Two other riders—among the 41 who signed up as part of the Dream Team (with an increased entry fee)—also finished in under 4 hours. Thanks to the effort of these special domestiques, the charity challenge in support of the IOR was successfully completed.

The Last Finisher

The Nove Colli is also special because it celebrates not only the first but especially the last rider to finish. And it was a true celebration with music, applause, toasts, flowers, and traditional Romagna food gifts for Luca Coluzzi—born in 1981—who crossed the finish line at 5:27 PM. The rider from Tana Bike Anagni ASD hails from Segni, in the province of Rome.
