Nove Colli: a Green Race in intentions and facts

Nove Colli is the first Granfondo officially recognized as a sustainable event by Ecoevents, official partner of Legambiente

Nove Colli is a "green" and sustainable race, and not only in intentions and communication thanks to its concrete commitment in recent years. Now it's earned the official certification from Ecoevents, official partner of Legambiente. The organization, based in Rimini, has a precise internal protocol of 110 good practices, 10 of which are mandatory, that various events must comply with precision and commitment. Nove Colli has already reached 60% of the objectives, and is working to improve on this even more. To name a few, we've reduced plastic and paper, reuse materials, recycle and much more.

Nove Colli and Ecoevents began their journey together in September 2020 with a dialogue that has continued in recent months. The strengths of the race, starting and finishing in Cesenatico, include the reduction of plastic and paper use, the sourcing of seasonal and local raw materials for the pasta party, and much more. Our goal is to aim for an awareness campaign of shared mobility for participants and volunteers, biodegradable water bottles and a series of other objectives to be determined with Ecoevents.

"We live in times in which attention to the environment is always discussed as a fundamental value but then in fact, it is difficult to find concrete and tangible actions to do so," says Andrea Agostini.

"We decided to rely on Ecoevents, Legambiente's partner, to begin a journey. We wanted a snapshot of Nove Colli, to understand where we were and where we could improve. We are happy and proud of this certification which is also an incentive to do more in future editions."

"This collaboration with Nove Colli is the result of the activity that has long committed us to create synergies between the world of events and that of sustainability. Legambiente has the ambition to make sustainability mainstream and to do so we are convinced that it is necessary to make a pact with all those who have the opportunity to maximize our message. I am happy to have collaborated on the Nove Colli's certification by Ecoevents and I thank all the A.S.D. Fausto Coppi for believing in this path, demonstrating that a widespread awareness of environmental issues is being created in the country », Francesco Occhipinti President of Legambiente Forlì Cesena.

"For us at Ecoevents, it is an honor to have certified a prestigious event such as Nove Colli, the first Granfondo we have worked with," adds Romano Ugolini of Ecoevents.

"We found a positive and collaborative atmosphere, total availability and a great desire to improve together."
